Why AI Will Never Replace Blogging
Blogging is an Art, Not a Science.
These days all we hear is “AI this”, “AI that”.
AI is everywhere.
And with AI being an information powerhouse, it is natural to ask whether AI will kill the need for blogging.
In this article, I will shine light on our concerns about AI and the future of blogging.
We will then explore how our own unique human abilities can be leveraged to ensure blogging remains a prominent method of self-expression.
Without further ado… Let’s dive right in!
The Increased Use of AI Reduces Blog Traffic
By 2026, it is predicted that total search engine volume will drop by 25%.
Unfortunately, this means that around 25% less people will visit your blog for answers.
And with the integration of AI in search engine results pages, this decline could become steeper than we think…
But instead of being thrown off by these “predictions”, I believe we should focus on leveraging our unique human abilities, something that AI doesn’t have, and adapt our blogging style to thrive in this new era of technology.
Leverage your Unique Human Abilities
While AI may have the edge on us in terms of raw knowledge, there are three main abilities humans have that AI is unlikely to replicate:
1. Creativity
Human creativity is a beautiful thing.
The ability to string two or more thoughts together and create new ones is truly magical to me.
The creativity of AI is limited to the bounds of it’s training data, while human creativity is boundless.
Until AI is able to create novel ideas outside it’s training data, it’s safe to say there will always be a demand for creative works, including blogs.
2. Emotion
Ultimately, AI is nothing but a digital entity that can not have emotion.
Only humans possess this unique ability to showcase emotion, especially in blog writing.
For this reason, readers can deduce if an article is AI written, since it’s written in a repetitive, monotonous tone without any emotion present.
Writers will need to emphasize on showing emotion, otherwise it will be hard to distinguish their writing from AI generated alternatives.
3. Personal Experiences
Perhaps the most unique ability humans have is personal experiences.
The key is in the name: “personal”, which implies that only a person can have such an experience.
I like to think of personal experiences as the sum of creativity and emotion:
Personal Experience = Creativity + Emotion
While there may be some variables missing, in the context of blog writing, all you need is your creative thoughts and feelings (emotion)about a topic to generate a unique personal experience.
Your personal experience is the most valuable thing in writing, because not even other people can replicate it, let alone AI.
Conclusion
AI is here to stay, and online blogging will change as a result.
While there are concerns about blog traffic declining, this doesn’t mean blogging is a useless practice, especially if our unique human traits are present in our writing.
AI has a long way to go before it starts to replicate our human traits.
